Health Matters

SHS was accredited with Sheffield Healthy School standard in 2004. This acknowledged the work that we conduct here in school specifically in the areas of Sex & Relationships education & Drugs, Tobacco & Alcohol education.

As a school community we recognise that healthier students perform better & that good health & healthy lifestyles are essential to raising student achievement. We aim to work together as a school community to support the well being of all our students so that they can:

• Make informed decisions about their health
• Follow a healthy lifestyle
• Develop self esteem & confidence
• Stay safe
• Develop respect for self & for others

We promote a healthy safe lifestyle across our curriculum as well as through many other opportunities such as:

• Breakfast Club
• Health Notice Boards
• School Council
• Healthy Options in our canteen
• Parent information evenings
• Outside agency speakers
• Water for all – all students are issued with their own water bottle
• Clear well publicised policies
