Physical Education (PE)

In years 7, 8 and 9 students have two lessons of core PE. Students in Years 10 and 11 who do not choose GCSE PE as one of their options will have one lesson of Core PE a week. As there is no formal assessment for Core PE, the main aim of these lessons is to provide students with time and opportunity to participate in a variety of different sports and activities to help them keep a healthy level of fitness as well as to identify different sports and activities that they may want to participate in after they have left school.

The lessons and activities that we offer are designed to help students enjoy being active and help promote a life-long passion for participation in sports and physical activity. For this reason we try to give Core PE students as much choice in the activities that they take part in. The amount of options available to students will often depend on the timetabling of their lessons and how many teachers are available to teach at a certain time.
