The key aim of the Geography department is to develop in all students a questioning approach to the world they live in. We aim to achieve this by giving students the skills and knowledge they need to investigate their world.

During Key Stage 3 all students will investigate aspects of physical environmental and human geography. They will learn a range of new skills to help them ask questions and make sense of their world; including OS map skills, research skills and ICT skills. Our students are encouraged to discuss their ideas in class and to share their views through their written work and through class presentations. Their work is assessed in a variety of ways and they are given clear guidance to help them improve their performance.

At Key Stage 4 the syllabus provides an interesting and logical progression from Key Stage 3 studies. During the course students study urban geography and the geography of work and development as well as examining river processes and the interactions between climate and the environment.

Throughout both Key Stages we place great emphasis on the interactions between people and the natural world
