Information and Communication Technology

ICT- Information and Communication Technology, has become an essential tool in everyday life, to this end we as a school are committed to providing our students with the tools they need to survive in the big wide world.


Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 The programme of study includes;

FINDING THINGS OUT – Involves gathering information using appropriate sources for a specific purpose. Learning how to check the accuracy of the information, filter it, and use it for particular audience or purpose.

DEVELOPING IDEAS – Solve problems using ICT. Test and evaluate raw data from automatic weather stations for example. Learn to automate procedures on the computers using traffic light systems.

EXCHANGING AND SHARING INFORMATION – Use a range of ICT tools to create a solution to a complex project. This solution will be presented in a number of forms.

REVIEWING, MODIFYING AND EVALUATING WORK – Critical reflection on work. Share views and assess work created by peers. Discuss how effective ICT has been in producing solutions.

During this programme of study Key Stage 3 pupils will use a variety of software. This programme of study aims to make students autonomous users of ICT.
