Music

During music lessons skills are developed in composing, listening and appraising. The department encourages full involvement by all students.

Class music is taught in Years 7-9 and GCSE Music is offered as an option for Years 10 and 11. There is a well-equipped music studio and a variety of traditional musical instruments. There are also keyboards linked to computers to record student composition work.

There is support for instrumental tuition on all stringed instruments, all brass instruments, clarinet, saxophone, recorder, flute and voice.

Musical activities run at lunchtime and after school; these include a drum club, a school orchestra, a swing band, samba band and choir. We present concerts, visit our primary schools and invite them to join us for instrumental courses at our school. We work with the Drama department for major school productions.

Students have taken part in many events including leading the Sheffield Lord Mayors Parade to an invite to play at the Millennium Dome.
