Transition to Stocksbridge High School
In view of the large number of Y7 students joining us in September 2019, we would like to hold a whole year group transition process. This will enable all students from the various junior schools who have been allocated a place at Stocksbridge High School to meet each other at the same time and be part of the house and form process and hopefully create new friendship groups with other children from the different feeder schools. Students will have two full days in school and experience the different lessons together with lunch and break arrangements.
Initially we agreed different transitions days for the various junior schools but feel that it will be beneficial to all the students to meet as a whole, therefore the dates now agreed are Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 June. We feel these days would provide a more successful transition opportunity for the children.
Wednesday 26 June 2019 – Welcome evening (6pm to 8pm) (students and parents are welcome to attend to meet their House Managers and Head of House
Wednesday 3 July 2019 – Uniform evening (5pm to 7pm) (uniform will be on sale from our uniform provider – Pinders Schoolwear
These events include:
- Biometric evening – Biometrics is the cashless system we operate in school for school meals and ICT printer credits. It involves taking student’s fingerprint to allow them to access these services from September.
- Uniform evening – This is an opportunity for Y6 students to try on our school uniform for sizing etc. The company who supply our uniform, Pinders Schoolwear, will be bringing various items of uniform to purchase on the evening. Pinders Schoolwear request you purchase uniform on the evening by cash only.
- Transition days (students will need to be in school from 8.30am and will stay until 3pm). Students are to wear their normal junior school uniform. Students will require drinks bottle, either a packed lunch or sufficient money to purchase food from the canteen. Out of area students will also require money for the school bus. Students entitled to a free school meal will be provided with one.
- Parents/Carers Welcome Evening – Students are also welcome to attend the evening to meet their allocated Head of House.
